Little America Hotel
There is a lovely story about the how the Little America hotel was conceptualized. In the 1890s, a young shepherd was grazing his flock in Wyoming in a rather desolate spot. As was common in the region, a blizzard came through from the northeast region. He got lost and was forced to camp out in the open all night. That was the first time he thought of how nice it would have been if there was a shelter in the area to serve those who needed a roof over their heads, some good warm food and an inviting fire.
Fast forward to the 1930s when this same boy happened to chance upon the pictures of Admiral Byrd and his Little America camp that was in the Antarctica. Reminded once again of the blizzard he went through as a child, he set out to build the Little America hotel.
What you will love about the hotel
Situated in Salt Lake, it has the largest indoor and outdoor pool in the region. It also has a dedicated children's pool so that your little ones are not left out. Of course, if the pool is not really your thing, then perhaps the fitness center is where you would like to head. Gastronomes will be very happy with the choice of two onsite restaurants -- Steakhouse and Coffee Shop. There is also the Wasatch Sports Bar and the Le Petit Caféett so getting something really nice to eat will not be too much of a problem.
If yours is a business cum pleasure visit, then you can make complete use of the business center on the premises, while your family takes in a bit of retail therapy at the five shops within the hotel. Internet is constantly accessible in your room through hi-speed WiFi connection. Emergency services such as an express check-out, one hour pressing and even a 24-hour shoe shine offer are always available. This can make your stay rather comfortable and memorable.
Crowd pulling factors
Don't go by the images you find online, they often don't do any justice to the place. It is a picturesque and luxurious place, and even the corridor has an expensive feel to it. In fact, with one look, you may instantly be inclined to cancel your booking at an expensive place and take up a room here. In general, the rooms have a good amount of seating space and even a bath tub for a great soak at the end of the day. The styling is of the early 20th century, but is careful not to give you the feeling of being in an old hotel. It is also clean and quiet- two things that are very important when you are traveling.
The only thing old world about the rooms is that they are opened with a metal key rather than electronic cards, and it's quite the pleasure to use. Every day, your beds will be turned down for you by the staff, and you will be provided with chocolates and a bed robe.
What Little America has going for it are the large and spacious rooms that it offers. These are something every family will appreciate or any traveler for that matter. The vanity area too is quite large, and this can be great. The location is perfect and offers everything you need from amenities, to shopping, eating and partying in the vicinity. Getting to the city's scenic spots too is simple thanks to the central location. Train stations too are in the vicinity making travel an easy enough prospect. There is also a tram stop in the vicinity. This hotel is a pet-friendly place and that makes it a joy for the many travelers who would not think of leaving their pets behind when on a holiday.
There are great views of the pool and even the garden façade of the city. Should you choose any of the higher placed rooms, then you can wake up to a beautiful mountain view. There is also a court-side view that you can choose.
The hotel offers complimentary self-parking or valet parking. Since the garage is underground, safety from the elements is guaranteed. The lattes at the Coffee Shoppe are unbelievable, and many people swear by the buffet breakfasts in the mornings. The staff is extremely courteous and is genuinely interested in making your stay a comfortable one.
There is a lot you can do when you are here in the city, and this hotel can be the perfect place for you to retire to at the end of the day.
